COJ 64 THE WONDER HIGH SUGAR VARIETY COJ 83 EARLY VARIETY COMPARABLE TO COJ 64
Out of commercial varieties, Co 86032 and Co 86249 are becoming the most popular varieties in tropical cane growing states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat. The cultivation of CoJ 83 – an early maturing high sugar variety comparable to CoJ 64 is picking up in Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. CoS 8436, CoS 88230, though not as early as CoJ 64 and CoJ 83, are high sugar varieties which catch up in maturity to CoJ 64 and CoJ 83 in the first week of December. CoS 8432 and CoP 84212 have received good response from the farmers and are likely to occupy larger area in Northern India; CoJ 85 is a very promising early variety with respect to sugar recovery and yield. Co 89003 is an early very high sugar even better than CoJ 64 but is highly location specific, doing well in wilt free areas only as it is susceptible to wilt disease and root borer.
